Two relatives of Lewis Lent Jr., who is suspected of being a
serial child killer, said yesterday that the North Adams handyman
confessed to crimes he did not commit in order to escape grilling by
authorities.
Lent's nephew, Jon Wood, 17, of North Adams, told the Associated
Press yesterday that Lent admitted to several crimes in order to end
a 36-hour inquisition by police. Last night, Lent's stepfather,
Alfred Wood, made the same statement in an interview with the Globe.
