It burst into bloom for just a decade or so, but the turn-of-the-century style known as Art Nouveau influenced the look of everything from advertisements for salad oil to book jackets, furniture, pottery and silverware. Its influence outlasted its life: The psychedelic flower child look of the 1960s was a descendant.
