Salinas's Brother Accused of Murder; Mexican Ex-President's Kin Jailed in Death of Party Leader

Raul Salinas, the older brother of former president Carlos Salinas
de Gortari, was arrested today and charged with ordering the
assassination last September of a top leader of Mexico's ruling
party.
Special prosecutor Pablo Chapa shocked the nation tonight with the
announcement of Raul Salinas's arrest, identifying him as a key
suspect in the daylight assassination of Jose Francisco Ruiz Massieu,
secretary general of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
Carlos Salinas was elected president in 1988, running under the
