Marv Albert doesn't think play-by-play announcers necessarily are born to the job, but the career impulses should start early.

"You've got to have been a nut growing up; it's like being a gym rat," said Albert. "You've got to have done tapes, driven people crazy at games as they hear you recording for yourself. You'd be surprised at how many announcers did that as kids."
