Steczynski's quiet power shines through even in chaotic cafe
|
Over the years, John Steczynski's marvelous drawings have been
exhibited in a restaurant, a library, a church, the Cyclorama and the
gallery at Boston College, where he teaches. The work hasn't found a
berth in a commercial gallery setting, though. For some reason,
dealers have shied away from these labor-intensive architectural and
figurative drawings that are not only beautiful, but, I would guess,
eminently saleable. Now, with galleries closing because of the
economy, Steczynski's prospects in that vein seem dimmer than ever.
But this month his works are on view in a place that is open ...
