CHRISTIANS SAY HOLIDAY WON'T BE FESTIVE IN ISRAEL

JERUSALEM - Israel's Christian leaders have accused the
Israeli government and media of attacking them, have complained of
alleged human rights violations against Palestinians and have said
conditions are so deplorable in the Holy Land that Christmas this
year will be observed but not celebrated.
The Christian broadside, delivered Friday in a Christmas
message from Jerusalem's eight principal Christian leaders, was
apparently prompted by an Israeli government report that accused
many of the Christian leaders of inciting the Palestinian
insurrection.
