ARCHIE BROWN, 79; WON DECISION ON COMMUNISTS' UNION RIGHTS

SAN FRANCISCO - Archie Brown, a labor leader who won a 1965 Supreme Court decision affirming the right of Communists to hold union office, has died at the age of 79.

Mr. Brown died of cancer Friday at his San Francisco home.

As an officer in the International Longshoremen's and Warehousemen's Union Local 10, Mr. Brown became nationally known as a target of the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1960.
