She doesn't hesitate to send us to the dictionary. "Squinny" (squint) and "colubrine" (a tropical poisonous snake) appear in the very first three-lined stanza of "The Prairie" -- a long, eight-part narrative that she read as the Phi Beta Kappa poet at Harvard in June ...
