"The Phantom of the Opera," a four-hour miniseries based on Gaston Leroux's classic tale of a masked figure who haunts the Paris Opera House, airs Sunday and Monday nights at 9 on Channels 4 and 10.

Burt Lancaster (an Oscar winner for "Elmer Gantry") and Charles Dance ("The Jewel in the Crown") head an international cast which includes newcomer Teri Polo, Ian Richardson ("Pursuit"), Adam Storke ("Mystic Pizza") and Andrea Ferreol ("La Grande Bouffe").

Arthur Kopit ("Hands of a Stranger"), who received Tony nominations for the plays "Nine," "Indians" and "Wings," wrote the teleplay based ...
