INTERFERENCE AGAINST BOYD? AGENT SAYS BOSTON HELD UP PITCHER'S DEAL WITH EXPOS

Dennis (Oil Can) Boyd's agent, George Kalafatis, yesterday accused the Red Sox of trying to "undermine" the pitcher's agreement with the Montreal Expos last week.

According to Kalafatis, Boyd will sign a one-year deal with an option year early next week. Kalafatis said Boyd has successfully completed a battery of medical tests required by the Expos, whose agreement was conditional, based on those tests.

Boyd and the Expos finally agreed to terms last Thursday at the winter meetings in Nashville. But Kalafatis said they actually had an agreement as early as Monday of last week.
