John P. Chamberlain, retired operations manager of New England Life in Boston, died yesterday at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 75 and lived in Hingham.

Mr. Chamberlain retired in 1971 after 43 years with the company.

Mr. Chamberlain was a Marine veteran of World War II, serving as a private first class in the South Pacific.

Born in Dedham, he graduated from Dedham High School and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
