BUSH MOVE LIKELY ON ANTITRUST CHANGES WOULD ALLOW US A CLEAR FIELD IN HDTV

The Bush administration, at the urging of business groups,
is expected to recommend wide-reaching changes in the antitrust
laws that would permit high-technology manufacturers to jointly
develop and manufacture the next generation of television sets.
On Tuesday, Commerce Secretary Robert A. Mosbacher is
expected to reveal details for relaxing the antitrust laws to help
US companies develop an American-owned high definition television,
or HDTV, industry. The Commerce Department may also urge a
reduction in the capital gains tax for companies participating in
