MCGEOUGH GETS HELP ALONG TOUGH ROAD
|
The play began innocently enough the night of Oct. 11 during
an American Hockey League game between the Springfield Indians and
the Cape Breton Oilers in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Indians defenseman Peter McGeough, who captained the St.
Lawrence University team last season, was chasing the puck into his
corner with Oilers forward Nicholas Beaulieu in pursuit.
As they jockeyed for position, they got tangled and fell to
the ice with McGeough on the bottom.
His hands were caught underneath his body, and there was no
way to avoid the head-first collision into the boards -- and a
broken back.
