HERTZ PAYS FINE ON AD COMPLAINT

Hertz Corp. paid a $10,000 civil penalty yesterday to Massachusetts to settle a deceptive advertising complaint filed by the office of Attorney General James M. Shannon.

In a civil complaint, filed yesterday along with the consent agreement in Suffolk Superior Court, Hertz was charged with advertising the availability of financing for the sale of its used cars without stating the complete terms of downpayment, payment schedules or annual percentage rates.
