LEXINGTON, LINCOLN, CONCORD RESIDENTS ALERTED TO CHANGES AFOOT FOR BATTLE ROAD RESTORATION WOULD MOVE ROUTE 2A
|
Minuteman National Park yesterday presented a draft proposal for
a $54 million relocation of Route 2A through Lexington, Lincoln and
Concord.
The relocation would permit restoration of the trail, known as
Battle Road, taken by American farmers in pursuit of British troops
in 1775. Today that trail is paved over by 2A, which cuts the park
and has become heavily traveled, with development pressing on
either side.
Residents of the three towns will have until Aug. 1 to offer
written comments on the proposal, which could take 15 years or more
to implement, said park superintendent Robert Nash.
