Loretta Jackson, speaking in a film that Boston University uses to recruit minority medical students, says that when she was a young woman in Mississippi, she never saw a black doctor. "I distinctly remember when the waiting rooms in physicians' offices were segregated," she says. "I think that was the reason why I never liked going to the doctor. Even now, there are no minority physicians in my home town of Indianola."
