EDWARD V. HICKEY, 52; GUARDED REAGAN, LED MARITIME COMMISSION

Edward V. Hickey Jr., chairman of the US Maritime Commission
and former Reagan White House aide, died Saturday in his Falls
Church, Va., home, apparently of a heart attack. He was 52.
Mr. Hickey was born in Dedham and served in the Army in the
mid-1950s. He received his bachelor's degree in business
administration from Boston College in 1960 and worked as a youth
counselor at the Massachusetts Youth Authority until 1964.
He was a graduate of the Treasury Law Enforcement Officer's
School and the Secret Service Special Agent School.
