CHAD SAYS 23 LIBYANS KILLED IN BORDER CLASH

NDJAMENA, Chad - Chadian troops killed 23 Libyan soldiers
and captured seven during the weekend when a Libyan convoy
attempted to cross the border from Sudan, the government said
yesterday.
"After hard fighting, the enemy was routed and withdrew
into Sudan," the communique said, adding that the Chadians suffered
no losses.
The claim could not be independently verified.
Chad has charged that Libya is using Sudan as a staging
