The temporary embargo imposed on three Maryland clam suppliers Friday probably will have little immediate effect on the retail price or availability of steamers and fried clams in Greater Boston, a dozen area restaurateurs and seafood suppliers said yesterday.

"The prices on my menu will stay the same," said Spiros Kesaris, president of the Clam Box restaurant on Wollaston Beach in Quincy. "We'll take a loss for a while if we have to. It will hurt us, not the customer."
