TRUCK CRASH, GAS EXPLOSION IN GERMANY KILLS AT LEAST 30

HERBORN, West Germany - A tank truck loaded with gasoline crashed into an ice cream parlor last night, exploded and set off a ruptured gas main, killing at least 30 persons and perhaps as many as 50, officials said. The truck driver survived.

The central section of Herborn looked as if it had been firebombed. It took hundreds of firemen about five hours to bring the flames under control after the 9 p.m. accident, which injured 29 persons.
