GEMAYEL REPORTEDLY HAS THREATENED TO QUIT IN MIDST OF CABINET CRISIS

BEIRUT - President Amin Gemayel has threatened to quit because of squabbling between Syria and right-wing factions in his Christian community over the resignation of the Moslem prime minister, Rashid Karami, the main Christian radio reported yesterday.

Christians have urged Gemayel to accept Karami's resignation, but Syria, the major power broker in Lebanon, urged Karami to stay on.
