MULRONEY URGES PACT TO CURB ACID RAIN

OTTAWA - For the first time, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney proposed to President Reagan yesterday a treaty committing the two countries to a 50 percent reduction in acid rain emissions by 1994, senior Canadian officials said.

The officials, who said Reagan "took note" of the request, said that it will be discussed again today at the annual summit meeting of the two leaders.

Mulroney, who is under intense domestic pressure to seek stepped-up US action on the issue, signaled his intent earlier yesterday, decrying in two television interviews the damage…
