ARUM: HARD SELL HE'S CONTROVERSIAL -- AND SUCCESSFUL

LAS VEGAS - Promoter Bob Arum made a recent observation about himself. Its context was a discussion about the negotiations that led up to the Arum- promoted "Super Fight."

It was recalled that Ray Leonard's attorney, Mike Trainer, had made it clear he did not trust Arum's accounting methods.

"That's OK," said Arum. "If I'm in his shoes, I'm not going to trust me, either.

"In any business, the most important thing is first count."
