So there is a pronounced resemblance in the present day to the
1920s, after all. Forget the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the
crash of 1929; think of the administration of Warren Gamaliel
Harding.
The collapse of Ronald Reagan's presidency midway through his
second term is unlike anything that has happened since Harding's
administration fell apart amid the Teapot Dome scandal in the
spring of 1923 -- and the implications are striking for the
economy, the 1988 election and beyond.
