When Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was 26 he settled in Amsterdam where he established himself as a portrait painter. Three-hundred and fifty-five years later, authorities on Rembrandt's paintings were still sorting out what he had done.

At a two-hour panel held last week in connection with the meeting of the College Art Association here, Dutch and American scholars looked at five Rembrandt pictures dated between 1632 and 1634. The Dutch visitors, Dr. J. Bruyn and Dr. E. van Watering, were from the 20-year-old Rembrandt Research Project, which has disputed the authenticity of Rembrandt ...
