Panel refuses to give up quest for new school in Middleton

A Middleton panel hopes to keep alive an effort to solve the space crunch in the town's elementary schools, despite voter rejection of its plan to build a new school on Locust Street.

"We are looking to continue. We are all very committed to helping resolve the space needs for the children," said Teresa P. Buono, a member of the School Building Committee and vice chairwoman of the Elementary School Committee.

Two recent votes have dealt a blow to the School Building Committee's plan to construct a school on part of a 35-acre town- owned site on Locust Street.
