AN ERA ENDS FOR GARDEN CENTER LAUGHTON SELLING FAMILY BUSINESS

With a handshake, Charles Laughton has signaled his intention to
relinquish a 70-year-old family business in Chelmsford and the 29
acres behind it to another family with generations of gardening
history. Now the question is what will happen to Laughton's 46 acres
of prime land in Westford.
Lawyers for Winchester-based Mahoney's Garden Center are working
out the details of an agreement to buy Laughton's Garden Center at
Princeton and Richardson streets in Chelmsford.
The pending sale marks the passage of a well-known area business
