In the mid-1970s, Robert H. Baldwin told his children that the
family should sail across the Atlantic Ocean. His son thought he was
joking, until he saw the look in his father's eyes.
"He just got his mind set on it that it was going to be a family
trip and an adventure," said Robert Baldwin Jr. of Nahant.
"His dream was to sail around the world with his family," said one
of his daughters, Emily B. Shanks of San Francisco. "He listened to
his children and we talked him down to just going to Europe."
