HIP-HOP CARNIVAL

Mixing comedy and pop music is never easy. Back in 1999, two
producer-artists, Prince Paul and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, gave
hip-hop a funny bone. They called their band the Handsome Boy
Modeling School , after the title of an episode on the late, geeky-
cool TV show "Get a Life," starring Chris Elliott. They attracted a
lot of collaborators; showing up on their debut disc, "So . . . How's
Your Girl?," were Biz Markie, the Beastie Boys' Mike D, Cibo Mato,
Sean Lennon, Brand Nubian, De La Soul, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, and
