At first glance, painters William Ciccariello and Will Mentor have
little in common. Ciccariello's works at Miller Block are realist
monochromes; Mentor's painting at Mario Diacono at Ars Libri is
abstract and powered by bold color patterns. Yet the two share a
subject: humanity's attempt to harness and control the land. Add
Ciccariello's savvy about the abstract forces that build his pictures
and Mentor's consideration of his work as a landscape, and the two
are practically brothers.
