My English teacher once told me about a "self-fulfilling prophecy," the idea that if a person predicts and deeply believes certain events will come about, that person will, perhaps unconsciously, alter her behavior to create situations that will cause the events to happen.

My first instinct was to deny that this concept could ever apply to me. It bothered me until I remembered how I came to Boston Community Leadership Academy, formerly known as Boston High.
