WAKEFIELD PACIFIES THE RAYS KNUCKLEBALLER HAS THEM EATING OUT OF HIS HAND

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - So what did Tim Wakefield name his first
son? "How about Phil [Niekro Wakefield]?" Pedro Martinez wanted to
know, referring to the Hall of Fame knuckleballer and former
Wakefield mentor. Not quite. Wakefield seems to have done enough
by keeping alive the knuckleball's legacy and wearing No. 49,
previously worn by knuckleballing great Hoyt Wilhelm. Wakefield
and his wife, Stacy, opted instead to name their son Trevor Steven.
And the new dad will have a nice story to tell one day about his
first pitching appearance after the boy's arrival. In a dandy ...
