Mary had a little one. But she probably didn't eat it.
"Lamb's too greasy and gamy," she may have said. Or, "Mom doesn't
like the way it smells up the kitchen." And so, oblivious to the
rules of decorum, Mary let her fluffy, fleeced pet follow her
everywhere.
Mary and her family are fairly typical. We eat far fewer lamb
legs, chops and shanks than the rest of the world. We eat far less
