NICHOLAS MARATHAS, 82; GAVE TASTE OF VINEYARD TO VISITORS

Nicholas W. Marathas, a.k.a. "Nick the Greek," a happy-go-lucky
bus driver and tour guide for Martha's Vineyard Sightseeing for 22
years, died Wednesday at his home on the island. He was 82.
Every summer, until he was overcome by cancer earlier this year,
Mr. Marathas got behind the wheel of Bus No. 15 and conducted two-
hour tours of the island, with a stop at the cliffs at Aquinnah for
lunch.
Decked out in a fishing cap and the company's distinctive pink
shirt, he shifted the pink and green bus into gear and delivered a
chatty commentary on points of interest over a hands-free microphone.
