CHARITY KEEPS CHEST FROM SLAMMING SHUT FUND-RAISING DIP WORRIES ORGANIZERS

The Concord-Carlisle Community Chest will kick off its annual fund- raising campaign on Oct. 1 with a goal of raising $615,000 to support local human services organizations. But organizers are already seeing clouds on the fund-raising horizon. "I'm worried that we won't make our goal," said executive director Astrid Moeyersoms.

In Concord, the median family income is $115,839, and in Carlisle it is $142,350, according to US Census 2000 data. Despite the affluence of these towns, the Community Chest is feeling the double punch that a sluggish economy is giving to nonprofit organizations ...
