AFFORDABLE HOUSING CHANGE GIVES TOWNS MORE SAY INCENTIVE RECOGNIZES STEADY PROGRESS

The most significant change in the state's 33-year-old affordable
housing law will give suburbs a greater role in deciding how and when
affordable housing developments are built, lawmakers and housing
specialists said.
Under the new plan, passed by the Legislature on Wednesday,
communities that voluntarily increase their affordable housing stock
by 0.5 percent per year will receive a one-year exemption from "fast
