ARTIST, LONGFELLOW `COLLABORATE' ON BOOK

LEXINGTON Lexington's Christopher Bing remembers reading Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's famous poem about Paul Revere and his ride to warn that the British troops were advancing during the American Revolution.

"I didn't appreciate it as an art," Bing said at the time. But as he grew and learned more about Revere, he decided to create historically accurate illustrations to accompany the Longfellow poem.

"That was the defining idea for me," he said.

The result, "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" (Handprint Books, 2001), is a luminously drawn book that incorporates historical document ...
