SCHOOL NEEDS A NEW NAME

CAMBRIDGE - The idea was first raised a decade ago when the
Agassiz School was being rebuilt:
Why is it still named after Louis Agassiz? Why is this school
named after a man who would have regarded many of its present-day
students as barely human?
Over time, that question was replaced by an even more provocative
idea: that the Agassiz should be named after Maria Baldwin, the first
African-American woman to run the Agassiz, or any public school in
Cambridge.
