MILTON BERLE, `MR. TELEVISION,' DIES AT 93
|
Milton Berle, whose dominance of the early days of a then-new
entertainment medium earned him the title "Mr. Television," died
yesterday in his Los Angeles home. He was 93.
Mr. Berle had been under hospice care for the past few weeks. He
had been diagnosed with colon cancer last year.
With considerable justification, Mr. Berle could have just as well
laid claim to the title of "Mr. Show Business." He spent more than
eight decades as a performer, working in motion pictures, vaudeville,
nightclubs, radio, and the theater. In 1995, he even starred in an
