Malcolm X slept here; few recall his home

Trash blows across the overgrown yard and onto the porch. An old
sign says the house is for sale, but there's been no real interest in
the place ever since vandals broke in and some drunks tried living
there and a city inspector recommended burning it to the ground.
The home is empty now except for some memories. With the windows
boarded, it's hard to imagine how a troubled teen-ager named Malcolm
Little might have regarded the spot where other teen-agers today
hang around, waiting for something to happen.
