Thomas says he'll fight to the end Supporters rip into sex allegations

WASHINGTON -- Judge Clarence Thomas vowed yesterday that
accusations of sexual harassment will not force him to withdraw his
Supreme Court nomination, telling the Senate Judiciary Committee,
"I'd rather die than withdraw. . . . I'm not going to cry uncle."
He accused Anita F. Hill of using a base sexual stereotype of
black males to defame him, while Thomas' Senate supporters insisted
that Hill's sexual harassment charge was a scheme concocted with help
from the nominee's liberal foes.
