Strauss faces many queries on lobbying
|
WASHINGTON -- Robert S. Strauss, the consummate power broker who
was nominated by President Bush last week as ambassador to the Soviet
Union, will face rigorous questioning at his confirmation hearing
about how far he intends to distance himself from his law firm's
ample lobbying business.
While no obstacles are expected to Strauss' confirmation, Sen.
Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, an influential member of the Senate
Foreign Relations Committee, which will probably hold confirmation
hearings next month, said the panel will seek guarantees from Strauss
that he is separating himself from his ...
