Bucks sign veteran guard; Ivey brought in to provide depth

Just one day after guard Charlie Bell signed a five-year, $18 million offer sheet from the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks signed free agent point guard Royal Ivey on Tuesday.

But Bucks general manager Larry Harris said Ivey's signing will have no influence on the team's ultimate decision on whether to retain the 6-foot-3 Bell.

"The timing appears to be that, but there's no direct correlation at all," Harris said. "We already had planned to do this, regardless of the Charlie Bell situation. We brought in five guards, and we felt he (Ivey) performed well enough and showed the skill level that ...
