Scientists who conducted a series of landmark studies on breast cancer have concluded that most patients with early-stage breast cancer -- regardless of their age, type of tumor or whether it has spread to nearby lymph nodes -- should be considered "candidates for chemotherapy."

In a paper published last week in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, a team of researchers with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) announced the findings of a study involving more than 2,300 women.
