Outspoken Michael Rosen named Childrens Laureate
|
LONDON writer Michael Rosen is the new Childrens Laureate.
Rosen, a poet, performer and BBC broadcaster, succeeds Jacqueline
Wilson. The award marks outstanding achievement in childrens
literature but previous winners have spoken out on the state of
English and reading in schools.
In the past Rosen has condemned the designers of the primary
school curriculum for misunderstanding or misconstruing the purpose
and importance of stories.
