Potholes immune to clout?; Neighborhoods with city officials often get slowest service, data show

John Schlueter's bicycle has taken a pounding from all the
potholes he runs over on his way to work in Uptown.
The bone-jarring craters not only make for an unpleasant ride; at
times, they've nearly thrown him off his bike.
"I've damaged tires, I've bent rims," said Schlueter, a mechanic
at Uptown Bikes on North Broadway.
So he wasn't surprised to find that Uptown is one of the city's
most popular places for pothole eruptions, with 99 reported for
every square mile during February and March, the peak of the city's
pothole season.
