Auburn Elementary students, faculty help others in need

Giving: $700 raised for school; children donating to adopted families

Students and faculty at Auburn Elementary School are going above and beyond to help others.

Approximately 20 fifth- and sixth-graders from the school volunteered to sell discount cards to raise money for a New York school that was closest to the World Trade Center when it was attacked Sept. 11.

Profits from the sales totalled $700, said Renee Fincham, a sixth grade teacher.

The money will be sent in the form of a check to the school to help students replace band equipment and other ...
