DavCo Restaurants Inc. has bought most of the Friendly's
restaurants in the Washington area and has committed to build 74
more in the next six years.
Restaurant experts said the move is part of a years-old trend
toward consolidation in the restaurant industry, with major
corporations like DavCo, based in Crofton, Md., trying to stake out
a piece of the fast-growing Washington area market.
