Hog prices rising steadily during past year

MANHATTAN --- Activity at supermarket meat counters is bustling
and U.S. pork producers are garnering a share of the business.
"Strong demand for pork and hogs continues to support prices
throughout the pork sector," said Kansas State University
agricultural economist James Mintert.
He cited spring quarter (April-June) slaughter hog prices in the
key Iowa-southern Minnesota market, which averaged $50 to $51 per
