OTTAWA --- The Franklin County seat of Ottawa still is considered an agricultural community, but it has a growing industrial base along with a rich culture, history and architectural beauty.

Ottawa, population 11,840 and growing about 3 percent a year, is centrally located in Franklin County and is about 35 miles southwest of Kansas City, 28 miles south of Lawrence and 54 miles northeast of Emporia.
